Vidal-Fleury Chateauneuf-du-Pape Rouge 2017

Founded in 1781, Vidal-Fleury is the Rhone Valley's oldest active wine house, and this Chateauneuf-du-Pape draws Grenache-led power from the famous galets roules, the smooth round stones that store and radiate heat to the vines. Full-bodied and layered, it pairs ripe kirsch and raspberry with garrigue herbs, licorice, and cracked pepper over supple tannins. A stony, smoky undertone carries a long, savory finish of herbs de Provence, cocoa, and mineral.
