Maybach Amoenus, from a hillside vineyard on the western side of Calistoga, where the moderating temperatures of the Black Mountain Gap are 10-15 degrees cooler than on the western side, allowing gradual ripening and good maturation.
TASTING NOTES
This vintage produced an Amoenus bottling with a dynamic flavor profile, exceptional depth, and laser-focus. Aromatic notes of plum, clove, boysenberry, and loam materialize jump from the glass at first pour. The palate expression is marked by concentrated notes of black cherry, cocoa nib, cassis, violet, and crushed rock. The defining characteristic of this wine is the intricate balance of powerful fruit concentration, ethereal notes of precise acidity and silky tannin structure. The intricacy promised on the nose delivers all the way through the remarkably long, floral finish.
